What is GAQ Dance Class?
The GAQ Dance Community offer dance classes each term that are run by Dance Facilitators who are members of the Community for the Community.
GAQ Dance classes are choreographed and taught by passionate dance facilitators; who have extensive dance experience in performance and teaching dance forms ranging in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Garba Folk, Dandiya, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Fusion and Commercial Bollywood.
Our Dance Facilitators are Dina Amin, Nisha Bhaga, Bhavini Carpenter, Ashmini Dhother, Raksha Tappoo and Asha Thanki.
Our aim is to maintain the beauty and richness of our Gujarati culture and heritage through the Arts.
What type dance styles can I learn?
There are many styles of dance you can learn such as Garba, Dandiya, Dance Dramas and much more. Let us know what you are interested in!
What happens in a dance workshop?
In a dance workshop we have…
- 10 mins of a warm-up and dance technique
- 30 mins of learning dance choreography
- 15 mins of dance learning dance theory and dance games
- 5 mins finishing with a cool down and yoga stretching

Cost: $5 per class. Sessions are an hour long (with all money going to the GAQ).

What do I wear to class?
Exercise clothing or comfy clothes that you can dance in.
What do I bring to class?
A water bottle to stay hydrated
How many workshops do I need to attend?
As many classes as you can! We recommend attendance each week if you would like to be included in community performances.
Do all workshop groups get a chance to perform?
Yes! However, to be involved in performance opportunities, dancers must attend majority of the classes.
Do I have to perform?
No, feel free to come along for fun, fitness and meet new friends.
